Join Yale In Hollywood (HK) for a conversation with Academy Award-winning director Ruby Yang, social change filmmaker, head of the Hong Kong Documentary Initiative established in 2015, and a 2006 Oscar winner for The Blood of Yingzhou District. Other awards include an Emmy, the DuPont-Columbia Journalism Award, FilmAid Asia's Humanitarian Award, the Global Health Council Media Award, the NPT Human Spirit Award, the HK Directors' Guild Award, and the Grand Jury Award at the AFI Silverdocs Film Festival.
 
Writer, director, editor, producer, and nurturer of the next generation of documentary filmmakers, RubyYang embodies social and environmental activism at its best. Her most influential and iconic films deal respectively with HIV/AIDS (The Blood of Yingshou District - 2006), homosexuality (Tongzhi in Love - 2008), industrial pollution (The Warriors of Qiugang, a Yale Environment 360 video - 2011), and disadvantaged youth (My Voice, My Life - 2014).
