Summer programs at Yale

There are basically two types of summer programs conducted at Yale.

  • Yale's own summer programs are designed primarily for current university students, although high school students are permitted to apply for some of them on an academically competitive basis. For additional information, visit the summer programs section of Yale's website.

  • Yale is also home to Exploration at Yale, a summer program designed to prepare high school students for college life by giving them the opportunity to live and learn in a diverse, vibrant international community. Offering day and residential academic enrichment for students entering grades 10-12, this is the Senior Program sponsored by Exploration Summer Programs, an independent educational organization.

Like first-year students at Yale, Exploration at Yale Senior Program students live in suites on the Old Campus, where they gain valuable experience in small-group residential living. Students select two of more than 80 courses to attend in the morning, and in the early afternoon have the opportunity to challenge themselves with a college seminar, Princeton Review SAT or PSAT preparatory course, or up to three one-week mini-courses. The daily schedule of the Senior Program mirrors the flexibility of the American college experience, but is structured for the high-school age level.
